Welcome to the parks of Greater Syracuse!
Pratt's Falls County Park has not only a lovely waterfall, but an abundance of fossil remains in rock along the stream bed. Because of the fossils, this is my daughter's favorite place to go.
Green Lakes State Park, on the eastern fringe of Syracuse, has two unique, beautiful lakes in which the upper and lower waters do not mix. The water is a deep, clear turquoise. Swimming, picknicing, and hiking are all very rewarding here.
Chittenango Falls State Park, located about 20 miles east of Syracuse, has camping, picnicing, hiking, fishing, and a gorgeous waterfall along a creek that is beautiful in its own right, and fun to explore. For more info contact the park office at 315-655-9620 or visit www.nysparks.state.ny.us
